A Music Initiative for Reconciliation
Based on a memorandum of understanding with Pal-Think for Strategic Studies, the Association of the Educational Forum held a musical initiative for reconciliation. This is considered a part of a current project aims at reinforcing civil society organizations towards making the dream of national reconciliation true. Pal-Think works hard to let youth play a considerable role in strengthening the notion of reconciliation and community integration by many means. One of them is music. This initiative will be implemented in 4 universities in the Gaza Strip and with the participation of some universities in the West Bank.
The first event of the initiative was carried out at the University of Palestine with a very good presence of distinguished employees and students, under the supervision of Pal-Think for Strategic Studies represented by the project coordinator, Ms Sally Al-Sammak. The activity was opened by the National anthem of Palestine. It was followed by the speech of the president of Public Relations at the University of Palestine, Nihad Badria, in which he affirmed the importance of the youth role in the social and cultural work to attain their rights and presence.
The event was attended by a number of young people in the Association of the Educational Forum. Wassim Al Sisi and Muhannad Al Ashram performed a number of Palestinian songs, such as mawtni (my country), I’ll write your name, my country, and darna (oh, home). In addition, the poet Ahmed Al-Qrenawi, recited some poems during the event.
Interestingly, the Association is going to hold other three events in several universities in the Gaza Strip in October and November.
Furthermore, the Associaton’s Executive Director, Akram Abu Jayab, thanked both Pal-Think for Strategic Studies and the Swiss Government for their support and care for such initiatives, as well as for the administration of the University of Palestine for its appreciated cooperation in implementing the initiative in their university.
