Team Pooling :

In the belief that Palestinian national and community Reconciliation is a national task with distinction, which requires that all efforts be concentrated in Palestinian society and that the promotion participation of people at all levels in the process of achieving tolerance and unity and continuation of the work of the PAL-Thinkstrategy Studies Foundation in The ongoing national reconciliation efforts since June 2007 and the partnership of many civil action organizations in Palestine.
The Strategic Studies project “Strengthening the role of Palestinian civil society in achieving reconciliation and national unity”, launched in mid-2015, in partnership with the PAL-Think strategic Studies Foundation and the Ibrahim Abu-Lughod Institute of International Studies, Birzeit University, in cooperation with The Swiss institutions of Switzerland and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), where the project included three phases.
Phase One:
launched a survey to assess and review the role of some civil society organizations in the area of national reconciliation where the results of the study were presented on December 8, 2015.

Phase Two:

A conference was implemented in mid-March 2016 in Gaza City, with the participation of many representatives of NGOs from the governorates of Palestine.

Phase Three:

The third stage, come with the aim of promoting action and practical coordination between partner institutions and others and moving from diagnosis and discussion to action, with the slogan “more work, the third phase is six months, beginning in October 2016 and ending in March 2017, where the third stage involves the implementation Joint initiatives by institutions in promoting national reconciliation. The institutions shall formulate proposals for activities and initiatives in this area and submit them to the relevant committee. A budget has been allocated to fund proposals for activities during the project period, and a concept paper on “Cost of division” will be set up by a research team, to be composed of four Palestinian universities. It is Bir Zeit University, Al-Quds University, Islamic University and Al-Azhar University. The third phase also includes a concept paper proposal, which will be drafted by the four universities and submitted to the financiers to attract funding for the study. The Ibrahim Abu Gould Institute has the lead in writing the concept paper, in addition to organizing a session entitled “Strengthening the participation of NGOs in national reconciliation” with the participation of all partner institutions to be held in Bethlehem in February 2017.

Current Phase :

The fourth phase began with a six-month period by announcing the opening of initiatives that strengthen the role of civil society organizations in Palestinian community reconciliation at the national level (advertising link).

 

The number of initiatives presented is more than 48 and more than in the previous three phases, reflecting the success of the idea of the project and the idea reaching the largest number.

 

The thought of the initiatives was reviewed and categorized according to the stated conditions and criteria, and the number of initiatives meeting the criteria was some 31 initiatives and the 17 that did not meet the standards

 

The nomination process has been completed to evaluate initiatives that have fulfilled the criteria by inviting the members of the evaluation and follow-up committee, namely:

  • Mr. Arafat Abu Zayed (Coordinator of the Student Framework Secretariat)
  • A. Nadim Kandil (Project official, the palestinian association for empowerment and local development-REFORM)
  • Mr. Omar Shaaban (Director, PAL ThinkPad Foundation)
