“Poetry brings us together” initiative
Based on their belief that poetry and music are not separated by borders, barriers, or even the politicians’ inclination to divide what the occupation has divided, 28 Magazine organized an evening named “Poetry brings us together” ,where 6 Palestinian poets from Gaza, the West Bank, and the 48 territories were hosted. It was held in collaboration with Pal-Think for Strategic Studies, within a current project aims at reinforcing civil society organizations for achieving community unity at the national level.
In the presence of intellectuals, artists, poets, authors, and those interested in the cultural scene, Mahmoud El Shaer, the Founder and Executive Director of 28 Magazine, said: “This is the second event organized by our magazine; we performed another “Poetry brings us together” last February. Today is the second time we succeed in overcoming the geographical boundaries for the sake of communication, unity, and integrating young literary voices in one stage and in one evening.”
The poets: Hamed Ashour, Razan Benora, Omar Ziada, Samar Abdel Jaber, Shahd al Shamali, and Mohamed Abu Libdeh were hosted in the poetry evening. In addition, the poet Nawaf Radwan was supposed to participate; an electronic error prevented delivering his participation. The Palace of the Palestinian Culture band participated in a series of musical performances during the event.
